Interior decorator may work in a variety of venues from a design showroom to a remodeling retail store, adoring to a space with fashionable or beautiful things. There is no government regulation regarding the work of an interior decorator by contrast. Interior decorators require no formal training or license.

Interior design is the art and science of understanding people’s behavior to create functional spaces within a building.

Interior Designer is a more specialized career field, requiring a certain combined level of education, work experience, and licensing. An interior designer may create for commercial and residential spaces dealing with issues of safety, accessibility and building codes. By applying creative and technical solutions within a structure; designers use designs that are functional, attractive, and beneficial to the client’s quality of life and culture. Designers can complete an interior design project from start to finish. Designers also prepare construction documents for bidding and permitting, as well as supervising the construction and installation of the work. Many U.S. states and Canadian provinces have passed laws requiring interior designers to be licensed or registered and document their formal education and training.
